A technical issue is bedeviling online banking at Citizens Bank, the bank confirmed Wednesday.
Sometimes performance is slow. At other times, customers can’t log in at all. Instead, the bank’s website displays a screen saying the service is “temporarily unavailable” due to “scheduled maintenance.”
In fact, the problem appears to be more serious.
Citizens Bank restores online banking service
Citizens Bank early Thursday restored service to its online banking, which had plagued customers with intermittent or no access since about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Spokeswoman Pamela Wigley said no security breach was detected, but Citizens was still not clear this morning what caused the temporary interruption of service. The bank still processed all customer transactions on time, she said.
